The National Service scheme of KMCT Polytechnic College is functioning to instil social commitment among its students. The first NSS unit (Unit No. 190) of this college started its activities in November 2007. Sanction for the second unit was received in January 2009 (Unit No. 210).

NSS units (Unit 190, 210) are frequently conducting different Campus and community based Programmes for developing the well-being and character development of Students, and also in the aim of making our surroundings and nation a better place. Some of the programmers are mentioned below.

  • Vimukthi - Drug abuse awareness programme for Students in association with excise department.
  • Anuvimuktha jalam-Cleaning wells around our college.
  • Blind home visit - A day with kizhuparamba blind home members.
  • Farming - Setting a kitchen Garden at our college to ensure students participation in farming.
  • Dahajalam-Providing water basins for birds.
  • Blood donation camp.
  • Punarjani – rejuvenation of around 10lakh assets @ Mukkam community heath centre.
  • Signature campaigns - Under National heath mission for some social outreach programme.
  • Railway Station Cleaning.

In addition to these every NSS Units conducts an annual 7 day Camp at different remote locations to ensure and develop Community activities of Students. Through these camps ,repair of different roads, renovation of government offices and some engineering works are done.

The volunteers participate in large numbers in the NSS meetings held every Friday and they chalk out new plans for future activities. As part of this, we are assisting the palliative care society in its endeavor. Two volunteers from the NSS unit of the KMCT Polytechnic College were among the 10 participants from Kerala who took part in the National camp held in Rajasthan. As our students regularly participate in the NSS activities and training programmes held outside the campus they have acquired leadership qualities and communication skills.
